5FM is a Top 40 format radio station broadcasting from Johannesburg, South Africa. This station is mainly an entertainment radio station that provides the most popular contemporary music and entertainment. Directioned to a younger audience, it is well known for its music, DJs and events.
5FM was aired for the first time on 13 October 1975 from the SABC Broadcast House in Commissioner Streeton and later its address changed to the basement of the Broadcast Center, Auckland Park in Johannesburg.
This station is owned by the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), South Africa's public broadcaster.
