Sobre KORC LP FM 105.9
KORC FM is an FCC licensed Low Power FM station dedicated to playing great music, building community, and educating the electorate about civics. The rights, responsibilities, and obligations of citizenship. We’ve partnered with Veterans For Peace and Our Revolution Corvallis Allies (ORCA) to accomplish this goal. Our mission: Play music the community wants to hear and inform the electorate about the rights, responsibilities, and obligations of citizenship… Civics! It’s not your typical station Most corporate radio stations have about 800 songs in their library and play 100 of those a lot. It gets boring. Even streaming services like Spotify and Pandora play the same songs a lot. Curating your own list is the only way to ensure limited repeats and continuous variety. The KORC library has more than 8,300 songs and counting. That’s MASSIVE. You’ll never hear the same song in a day, unless it’s requested. New songs are added all the time. The song library is a carefully curated list of music across the spectrum. It’s Cross Generational Americana that includes 80 years of American music. It’s the roots of rock to modern indie, blue grass, folk… More B sides and album cuts than A side corporate tunes. It’s the kind of song library that FM radio used to be known for. Ask anyone who can remember the 70’s. This library is the KJIV 96.5 FM brand, created by the legendary audio engineer Jeff Cotton. The curation is done by Jeff and a handful of veteran DJ’s. KJIV is based in Madras Oregon, but the content is broadcast to many other stations across the rural West Coast. There are also several hosted shows that are updated weekly. Our civics media distribution strategy is modeled after what Sinclair Media has done. Sinclair owns the vast majority of rural TV and Radio stations across America. They shape narrative in rural areas through local channels. Here’s a video by John Oliver about Sinclair. Tactical Media This is a revolution. We have to fight corporate control of our media if we want to survive. We deserve a world at peace. A clean and healthy world. Corporate controlled media does not agree. This drives our strategy. This is why we must Think Like Sinclair. We are creating a library of tactical media to change narrative. We seek content creators that understand how to craft media that works narrative. We are teaching civics and shaping the narrative around that education. This is not about politics. We are managed by Uphill Media, a 501c3 nonprofit. We do not support any political party and the content we create cannot endorse or support any party or political organization. Narrative is more subtle than that. Uphill Media is looking for volunteers (producers, content creators, and writers) who can produce tactical media. Contact John@uphillmedia.org
