Over Kaya FM

Kaya FM is a commercial radio station broadcasting from Johannesburg, Gauteng, using the frequency 95.9 FM. It was launched in 1997 and it stood out right from the start from the other ICASA approved licenses due to its format containing 60% music and 40% talk.

Kaya FM is designed to appeal to what it defines as the Afropolitan, individuals socially conscious, sophisticated, progressive and mature that enjoy being a player in the global environment and like to be well informed. For these listeners, it provides a line-up that encompasses music genres such as World Music, Soul, Jazz, R&B and African Indigenous music, as well as news and sports reports and programmes that dwell on the most significant issues that drive today's society.

This radio also engages directly with listeners through competitions and fun games, such as the 10 Second Challenge, which help to create a sense of closeness and familiarity with its team of DJs and presenters.

On its website, Kaya FM features an online live stream option that allows listeners from all over the world to enjoy its broadcasts live. The podcasts of its most popular shows are also available here.
