Über UNIVEN FM

Univen FM is a Campus Community Radio Station located at the University of Venda in Thohoyandou under Thulamela Municipality in Vhembe District Municipality. The station has been in existence for over twenty-six years since its inception on 05 September 1997. It is attached to the Marketing, Branding and Communication department at the University of Venda. We provide quality on-air programming that is both informative and educational to the community around Vhembe district municipality in Limpopo province. It is the only campus community radio station in Vhembe District that broadcast in four South African official languages which is English, Tshivenda, Sepedi and Xitsonga as per ICASA license regulations. One of our primary mandates is community development and communicating University information across the board. Furthermore, we strive for excellence and offer a very diverse and comprehensive content through our on-air programming line-up twenty-four hours a day. Broadcast Coverage The station’s broadcast coverage includes Vhembe and Mopani District municipality and some parts of Kruger National Park on the eastern side, Greater Giyani municipality area and Makhado local municipality in the South, Western and the Northern parts. It covers more than 50 KM radius as per ICASA license conditions. Target audiences The station targets people between the ages of 18 and 45 around Vhembe district municipality and the surrounding areas. The station is a non-profit entity which attached to the department of Branding, Marketing and Communication at the University of Venda.
