And the Oscar for Best Original Song goes to “Writing’s On The Wall” from James Bond film Spectre.
This was one of the many moments of last night's Oscar Ceremony.
Sam Smith and Jimmy Napes (songwriter) were thrilled to take home the Academy Award.
In his speech, Sam Smith talked abou an article he read by Sir Ian McKellen saying that no openly gay man had ever won an Oscar. Proud of being the first one he dedicated the Award to the LGBT community.
What Sam didn’t know was that the article was referring to openly gay actors. In the past there have been several openly gay Oscar winners like Elton John and Stephen Sondheim.
Among those who were not very happy with this speech was another Oscar winner, Dustin Lance Black who is an openly gay man who happened to have won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 2009 for his movie Milk.
